DJILLAY NGALU

Please contact your local ACCHO for information and updates.

Djillay Ngalu which means Healthy Together in the Gunaikurnai language was established back in 2006 by the four East Gippsland Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOS) and they are:

  • Lake Tyers Health and Children Services (LTH&CS)
  • Gippsland and East Gippsland Aboriginal Cooperative (GEGAC)
  • Moogji Aboriginal Council
  • Lakes Entrance Aboriginal Health Association (LEAHA)

Djillay Ngalu is directed by the four ACCHO’s to oversee and administer funds to assist them deliver culturally appropriate health programs aimed at:

  • Improving the quality of child and maternal health services;
  • Addressing chronic disease care;
  • Reducing, overtime, the incidence of adult chronic disease; and
  • Developing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce

The long term vision of Djillay Ngalu is that we work in partnership with the community and work together to improve the health and wellbeing of the Aboriginal communities across East Gippsland.

Djillay Ngalu is an active organisation and has delivered lots of exciting programs that have provided opportunities for the community to participate in and be involved with.

We pride ourselves on working in a collaborative manner and always strive toward building and maintaining long term partnerships with a range of other aboriginal programs and services. In recent times, we expanded to incorporate management of the East Gippsland Physical Activity and Wellbeing program and is delivered at each of the four ACCHO sites here in East Gippsland.

The program and encourages people to engage in the physical activity programs that we offer but more importantly we recognise the value of creating culturally safe spaces that allow people to gather, share and participate in whole of community activities that can improve the health and wellbeing of our communities across East Gippsland.
